Meet Jess, Your Personal Stylist
I’m a mom of two, transplanted from Ohio to Utah. Before we moved, I taught preschool, where my supervisor would tell parents that I was the "in-house personal stylist" and my coworkers would frequently stop by my classroom in the mornings for fashion advice. When we moved to Utah, I decided to take the opportunity to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. So, thanks to my sister-in-law, who helped me to see my true potential, I became a Personal Stylist.
People have since asked me, “How did you get into fashion?” My response is usually that I always have been, but that isn't exactly true. Fashion did not always come easily to me, it is something that I have learned through observation as well as a bit of trial and error. I spent 12 years of my life in a school uniform, and when I wasn't wearing my uniform my go-to was an oversized soccer tournament tee shirt.
During my teens (let's not talk about how long ago that was now), I started watching What Not to Wear with my mom. I remember being mesmerized by how Stacy and Clinton completely transformed the women they were styling. The pure elation those women felt in the right clothes; it got to me every time. I always thought, "How cool would it be to have that job?"
Fast forward to just a few years ago when I had to learn the hard way, while staying at home with our daughter, just how much clothes impact your day-to-day life and mentality.
Making it through this time reignited my passion for fashion and gave me the courage to start Jessica B Styling so that I can help other moms reclaim their identity through their personal style.
